P64: Goldenrod

Goldenrod was a strange shade of yellow. I felt stumped to get the color right. Finally looking out into my backyard I saw a goldenrod yellow leaf on our rhubarb plant. I highly doubt this is a healthy leaf, but I'm grateful for it this week! Plus, the red veins running through it make for an interesting design.

P64: Olive Green

Many of you may have already seen this photo debuting over on the Project 64 blog where I revealed the color of the week in a guest post!!

I thought I would post it here in case anyone missed it. It was a hard color to find, but I had fun searching and was honored to be a guest blogger.

My photo is of baby apples that fell off the tree in our backyard on the mossy tin roof of one of our sheds.

I'm excited to see all the olive green photos everyone captured this week on the link up!

P64: Timberwolf

This week the color was Timberwolf, a light gray color. Lucky for me I found this gray in the body of this snail.

When all stretched out like his body, or foot as it's actually called,  is 3+ inches long. His antenna are about 1 inch extra! He's a big guy. Ariana and I found 2 of them in the woods near our house, and have adopted them as temporary pets!

Is it just me, or he is just so darn cute!? We named them Sheldon (for the boy) and for the girl, Essie (like Escargot). They've been fascinating to hold and watch!

Check out more fun Timberwolf photos on the Project 64 blog!

I'll be back on Sunday with some "Sunday Confessions"! I haven't done those in a while!

P64: Salmon

I think this color was my hardest color yet. Tricky to find and once you think you've got it, it isn't really as salmon colored as you think. I came across a few things that I thought were a match and when I took pics of them and compared it to my color later, no match. Ugh! My closest match today is some of the play money in our Wheel of Fortune board game that we happened to pull out and play this week.

P64: Yellow Orange

I found Yellow Orange this week in the form of zucchini flowers at a little fruit and vegetable stand on the streets of Florence, Italy! I'd actually never seen these before but people were buying them up and walking down the street munching on the buds!

See more of my photography from Florence here and here and stay tuned for a super fun video of our scavenger hunt around the city I created for Rich's birthday!!!

P64: Asparagus

Well I just have to say that Asparagus was a difficult color to match. Everything I seemed to come up with was too "green" or "olive". This was my first really frustrating week. In the end, I settled on this photo. It's a field of tall crops near a walking path right outside the next village. I think the stalks match asparagus better than the tops, but they are very interesting to look at too.

I linked up here with the other P64 photos:

This week, the hunt is on for Yellow Orange and I'll be hunting it in ITALY!! I know, I know, first Paris, now this, you can hate me later! In case you missed it, sign up to be a pen pal of mine by checking out this blog! If I get your address in time, you may be getting a postcard soon!

Even though I'll be on vacation I've still got some fun posts planned and of course when I get back more travel pictures! YAY!!

P64: Cerulean

Paris is full of lots of color and of course I found Cerulean. Here is my photo I decided on.
It's my husband looking at the Paris map and the Seine River is that pretty blue!

Ok, today my plan is spending my free time going through the Paris photos so I can share them all soon!

P64: Tumbleweed

Not my favorite color but luckily for me it was easy enough to find when we took a stroll in a nearby village.

Gotta love that crazy hair!

P64: Red Violet

Red Violet = Play Dough

Ariana and I broke out some playdough stamps and shapers this past week. I found this particular can of playdough matched perfectly to the red violet when colored on paper.

P64: Pacific Blue

Pacific Blue jumped out at me while Ariana was dying her eggs the other day. A hugemonous thank you to Grammy (my mom) for the big Easter box with the egg cups and lots of other awesome goodies!

Happy Easter lovelies!

P64: Magenta

Magenta.

I kind of discovered I love magenta. It's a purplish, pinkish, redish color.
My shot this week is of some pretty flowers I have perched in my windowsill in my studio.

P64: Burnt Sienna

This week for Project 64, Brooke challenged us to have our photo for the week but a diptych (2 related photos that make up one). For Burnt Sienna I choose some old rusty metal on a shed out back.

When you color lightly and press down hard with this crayon you get this array of colors. I thought the rust captured it well, plus I find rust interesting so that was fun too!

I wonder, what is Sienna anyways?? I saw that there is also a Raw Sienna crayon in the box

P64: Spring Green

I had my green picture all set and ready to go on Saturday afternoon. Then, I went outside and there was this pretty green butterfly floating around the flowers! I knew I had to capture him. Makes my first shot seem so lame, I'm not even going to tell you what it was.

He was hard to photograph but ultimately I got a pretty clear shot of him sipping some nectar!
Don't you just love his wings and their brown spots like a leaf?!
Nature is so amazing!!

P64: Tickle Me Pink

Tickle me pink was fun.
I'm surrounded by pink. Thanks to "princess Ariana" but nothing really captured my eye that I really wanted to feature. I took a few things but nothing really stood out. Until this one.

My favorite pink shot was this touch of pink (in and on) my blush brush while putting my makeup on one morning. The pink was very feminine and I loved the side light from the window.

My last few shots have been hidden color, which has been fun searching for it, but for next week (or the next) my goal is going to be FULL FRAME color. As much of the selected color in the shot as possible! Here's hoping we get a fun, easy color! :)

I can't wait to see all the pretty pinks everyone else found!

P64: Scarlet

Ok so Scarlet isn't the deep dark red that I always imagined it was. It's more of a medium red with an orangey tone. I found red's all over the place but only this picture satisfied me in the end. It's a great one for the fact that it's more out of the ordinary and shares a little bit of life in Germany with y'all!

These are shopping carts on base. Oh what's that strange "scarlet" and black gadget hanging on the front, you say?? I'm glad you asked. Basically you need a quarter or Euro (or if you're cool like me a special key-chain you can keep on your keys). Every time you want a buggy (haha I'm from the south y'all) you have to put your money in and it unlocks it from the cart in front of it. To get your money back, you have to return your cart. The part that's hanging off goes in the back of the little gadget and pushes your money back out the front.
Clever, but annoying at times.

(And I kinda like that the car in the background is red too, adds to the photo, and I like the fact that the license plate is a German one!)

Oh and I've officially bought a 64 box of Crayola crayons for the project. Thank you Scarlet. I'm trying to branch out on my photography, so you may be seeing more unique photos to come.

P64: Plum

I think I found Crayola Plum.

This week I had to break down and go out and buy a box of 64 crayons for my own. Plum wasn't in my small box and I knew it was going to be hard to match.

I was painting in my studio the other day and I looked down at my hands. The mixture of colors layered on top of each other gave my fingertips a pretty purply plum color. I did a little coloring for a color check. And yes, I'm a messy painter haha!!

Wow this angle makes my fingers look funny! I've been hard at work coming up with some new paintings and working on a custom painting too. I usually multitask when it comes to painting. I usually have at least 3 paintings in the works at the same time. Can't wait to share my newest designs with y'all!

P64 participants,  let's get to know each other better. Find out more about me! Ask me a question in this post. I'll answer them next week!

P64: White

White
Bright
Simple
Pure

I went out of the ordinary for the project this week. I bought myself some foamboard and staged a photo. Something I RARELY ever do!

I used the white cake topper from our wedding. Sentimental, I know. I kept it white on white to really let the contours of her dress and the shadows give it contrast. I kept it simple, clean and minimal.

P64: Lavender

Lavender was the color this week. One of my favorite colors of all time!! I had so much fun playing around with my camera to capture this color.

This week I decided to try something new. When I found these teeny tiny buds of color popping out of the snow and ice, I decided to get out my tripod and use my macro reverse ring. It was my first time actually trying to use my ring. I'm really happy with the way these first shots turned out. They aren't perfect, but I'm loving that this project is sparking my creativity with my photography! It's a great excuse to make myself try new things!

To get an idea of how zoomed in I was, check out this picture on my flickr, taken from further away. I'm not sure what it is exactly but it's blooming on a some kind of shrubbery.

P64: Indigo

Wow, you would think to be one of the colors of the rainbow, this color would be easier to find.
Lemme tell you, that is NOT the case. At all.

I found myself second guessing everything I shot this week.
Is it indigo? Is it too blue? Or too purple maybe??
It was a hard color to pinpoint, so I hope I did okay. I choose this close up shot of a bicycle. Pretty close!?

P64: Apricot

Apricot.

As soon as the color was revealed, I knew exactly what I was going to take a picture of! We have a shed in our backyard that is the exact shade of Apricot! I just had to wait for a semi nice day to get some shots of it.

(This is the one is the one I'm using for the project)

Check out my other photos of this shed HERE.
