life and lemon bars

I just feel like posting a random blog today. Not really sure what it's going to be about yet. I'm just going to start typing and see where it leads me.

Today, I was making some lemon bars and while juicing a lemon I suddenly wanted to squeeze that lemon onto some shrimp. And just like that a craving was born. Who cares that I had planned to have chicken for dinner. One mention of this to my husband, and he and Ariana were off to the grocery store. This gave me a rare hour in the house alone. Totally alone. This hardly ever happens! Of course I took total advantage of it by vacuuming the kitchen, living room AND stairs, folding a load of laundry, cleaning the upstairs bathroom (I can get housework done so much faster alone) and talking to my best friend on the phone for a whole hour without being interrupted by a toddler once! All that from lemon bars!

Did you know, I love my Momma even more today. Today is like her birthday.  It's days like today that make you thankful for all the wonderful people in your life. Today is her last day at her job she's had for 10+ years. Good Great things are on the horizon for her and we couldn't be happier!! To commemorate, I sent her flowers. Did you know that florists don't have orange blossoms? That's what I wanted.

Oh, and Ariana told me when they got back from the commissary, that "she had to potty in the boy bathroom, not the girl one" Since she was with Daddy, he obviously took her in the boys bathroom. Apparently, she balked about it at first since it was obvious from the the plastic cut-outs of a boy and girl on the doors that she was going in the wrong bathroom. The boy one.

This is the first time she's acknowledge this fact. Not looking forward to the day when I have to explain the difference between boys and girls. Not at all.

And I found this pretty leaf the other day and just had to photograph it. Nothing fancy, but sometimes that's exactly what you need.
