Trying New Things {Cha-yen & Starfruit}

We've been venturing out of our comfort zone recently and trying some new things. We love trying new foods especially, but sometimes find ourselves in a bit of a rut. We decided to try something new every week. Here is our most recent "new things" we've tried.

We found a really yummy Thai restaurant near base. No, Thai food isn't new for us, but it is new dor Ariana. The Thai iced tea WAS new for us! It's orange!!
It was actually really yummy and I can't wait to have it again. It's kind of sweet though.

Ariana was a champ. She tried everything. She loved the soup the best. How cute is she eating her Thai food?!

She tried the soup, spring rolls, and my food (which sorry I can't even remember what I got but it was chicken and noodles and veggies. Yum!

Oh it's making me hungry!! Hmmm I may see another lunch date here soon!!

We also decided to start trying some new foods at home. The commisary sometimes has things that we've never eaten or cooked with before. Celery root for example. No idea, but last week we made some mashed potatoes with them and they were ok.

We also got some starfruit. Has anyone else eaten starfruit??

It was definately really pretty when we cut it up. I'm not completely sure it was ripe though, it was still pretty green, and after reading up on it online, I think it's suppose to be more yellow before you eat it. We may be trying this again soon.

Yay for new things!!!

Have any of you tried these things before??
Have you tried anything new recently?

Pin It!

  1. Oooooh Thai food in Germany! How awesome. :-D I would LOVE to try star fruit, but trying any new fruit is scary for me because of all the food allergies I have. It looks so pretty though!

  3. Even if the star fruit wasn't rip, it surely is photogenic! I love Thai food, but my pancreas doesn't. :( All my granddaughters have been food adventurers early on. I have, as I've aged.

  4. I really want to try star fruit sometime. I'm a bit of a chicken, though. Let us know how it tastes if you get a ripe one! Then maybe I can get my nerve up... haha!
