Overwhelmed Wanderluster... (needs advice)

Wanderlust.
freedictionary.com calls it: A very strong or irresistible impulse to travel.
Yep, I've got it.
.
But, where to start??

It's not every year you get thrown into a foreign country and given the great opportunity to travel Europe like we have. Admittedly this is our 2nd overseas duty station. (How did we get so lucky?!) Even so, we want to take full advantage of it this great opportunity.

In case you missed it, we went to Prague earlier this year. It was a short weekend trip. Now, we are ready for a real vacation. The only problem is I have about 35 places that I want to see and no idea how to decide where to go first. Maybe you can help!?!?

Here are some of the places I've been thinking would be nice to see this summer.

1. Italy
We could spend some time in Tuscany. Maybe the Chianti area tasting wines!

Or visit the leaning Tower of Pisa! I've always wanted to do one of those cheesy shots where it looks like I'm holding it up!

Oh or Venice! I think I would love this romantic city!

2. Greece
Athens would be great to see!

And check out these beautiful beaches in Greece!! I mean really!

3. Turkey
Or maybe go hot air ballooning in Turkey. They have lots to see there too!

I really don't know. I'm overwhelmed with choices!

Any advice or suggestions?
Have you been anywhere you've really enjoyed?
Where would you go if you had the chance?!

I'm excited to be planning a real vacation. Something we haven't done in years!

  1. With options like that, how can you go wrong?

I would probably choose Greece, but Turkey is an unknown to me so that might be fun too.

  2. I would totally pick Turkey out of those three!

  3. I have this dilemma at the moment too! The boyfriend and I are hoping to travel somewhere in Europe during the Easter holidays in a few weeks time but we had trouble trying to pick just one place. Venice seems the most likely option right now though.

Greece is such a beautiful place, I'd definitely recommend it - especially Crete! And although it isn't on your list, I'd also highly recommend Barcelona. I completely fell in love with that city and I cannot wait to go back again.

  5. I've been to all of these places! Tuscany is beautiful... There are so many little towns that are just magical! When I went there we just went from town to town and didn't really make any plans. It was great.
Here are my photos form the trip:

Pisa is not so exciting, it's okay. Besides the tower, there's not that much to do. But if you go there, I would also go to Cinque Terre!

Cinque Terre is so cool I went there twice:

Venice is amazing, but I went during the winter and it was really cold. I've heard in the summer it's really packed and not fun, but I guess it just depends on how much crowds (and getting lost in the twisting streets) bothers you.

Greece was amazing. I went to Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini.

Turkey was one of my favorite trips ever! There's so much to do there! We went to Istanbul and Cappadocia.

Okay, I'm really not trying to just plug my photo collections, I just know it helps me decide where I want to go when I see photos of what other people have done!
Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll have a blast, they're all great choices!

  6. I'm DYING to go to Tuscany! I spent a couple of weeks in the Swiss countryside a few years back and figured out that the villages in rural Europe are absolutely beautiful and relaxing and wonderful! I cannot wait to get to visit! Hope you have a blast wherever you end up choosing!
