Sunday Confessions & Cupcake

I realize it's been a while FOREVER since my last Sunday Confessions/Cupcake of the Week post. I thought it was time to do another one!

1. I have a bad habit.
I have a bad habit of twisting my hair. I try not to do it all the time but I do find myself doing it when I'm watching tv or sitting at a red light or simply thinking about things. It annoys my family.

2. I heart NYC!
In my "tag you're it" survey post, I asked my tagged readers if they would rather live in NYC or LA? I would rather live in NYC!!! (I think)

*source*

I've never been to either city so I don't really know for sure but just going on instict I think I'd rather live in NYC! Something about that city just draws me to it.

3. I love my French press!
It's the best way to drink coffee! Ever since I tried it I've been hooked! I love it :)

4. I hate carrots!
I'll eat pretty much anything and I'm very open to trying new foods. Carrots however are yuck! I've tried them all different ways and nope, still don't like them. I've always tried to eat them especially when I was little because, "they are good for your eyesight". Well, I wear glasses so either they aren't that good for your eyesight or maybe they are and I'd be blinder than a bat if I didn't eating as many as I did! I avoid them whenever I can.

 *source*

On the other hand I love carrot cake! Yums!!

5. Winter Vacation in an igloo!
I would LOVE, seriously LOVE a vacation to Lapland in Sweden and stay in an ice igloo!

 *source*

 *source*

See the Northern Lights!

*source*

Take dog sledding lessons!

 *source*

Ice sculpting, snowshoeing, skiing, reindeer rides, and hot cocoa! Sound like it would be so much fun!!
Sigh, maybe one day!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Surprise Cupcakes (RECIPE!)

Chocolate Peanut Butter Surprise Cupcakes
with Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting

I'm making these my cupcake of the week! I've been slacking on my cupcake love, so here to go!

I found this recipe on the Good Housekeeping Recipes when searching for something to make for my hubs for his birthday. He loves peanut butter and LOVES Reese's! I knew he would be in heaven with these cupcakes. These are sooo good! Yum!!! I hope you enjoy them!

Peanut Butter Filling and Cupcakes:
-2/3 cup confectioners' sugar
-1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
-10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) butter or margarine, softened
-1 1/4 teaspoons vanilla extract
-1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
-3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
-1 teaspoon baking soda
-1/2 teaspoon salt
-1 cup sour cream
-2 tablespoons milk
-1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
-2 large eggs

Peanut Butter Cream Cheese Frosting:
-8 oz. cream cheese, at room temperature
-4 tablespoons butter, softened
-1/2 cup peanut butter
-3 1/4 cups powdered sugar
-1 cup cool whip

1. Prepare Filling: In bowl, with mixer on medium speed, mix confectioners' sugar, peanut butter, 2 tablespoons butter, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla until blended. Shape mixture into 24 balls using heaping measuring teaspoons. (Balls will be sticky and don't need to be perfectly shaped.) Place balls on waxed paper-lined cookie sheet; set aside.

2. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line 24 standard muffin-pan cups with paper liners.

3. Prepare Cupcakes: On waxed paper, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In 2-cup liquid measuring cup, mix sour cream, milk, and remaining vanilla; set aside. In large bowl, with mixer on low speed, beat granulated sugar and remaining 8 tablespoons butter just until blended. Increase speed to high; beat 1 minute. Reduce speed to low; add eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat 1 to 2 minutes more or until light and fluffy. Add flour mixture alternately with sour cream mixture, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Beat just until ingredients are combined, occasionally scraping bowl with rubber spatula.

4. Spoon 1 heaping measuring tablespoon batter into each muffin-pan cup. Drop 1 peanut butter ball in center of each cup and top with another heaping tablespoon batter. Bake cupcakes 25 to 28 minutes (I baked mine about 21 minutes) or until toothpick inserted in cupcake comes out clean. Immediately remove cupcakes from pans and cool completely on wire rack.

5. When cupcakes are cool, prepare frosting: In large bowl, with mixer on medium-low speed, beat butter, cream cheese, and peanut butter until smooth and blended. Add powdered sugar slowly, incorporating fully after each addition. Add cool whip and beat until smooth and creamy. Frosts cupcakes.

Happy cupcake baking!!!

Sunday Confessions & Starbucks Cupcake!

~Sunday Confessions~

1. I think birthday parties just aren't as fun without balloons!
Yesterday I went to a birthday party for a 3 year old! Yep, balloons, I knew the party was going to be fun! It was so cute to see all the kids running around playing. I think there was more kids there than adults! Three year olds are soo funny. I can't wait for Ariana to get that age. Some of those kids said the cutest things! Balloons bring an extra magic to a party!

2. I hate taking pills.
I really can't stand taking pills. Firstly I have to be in serious pain for me to take medication for it. Secondly, I can't have anybody watch me. It makes me nervous and I get scared that I'm going to choke. Thirdly, even though I can't have anyone watching me, I prefer to have someone there. Just in case I start choking then they can save me!

3. I can hardly wait to have a second baby!
I LOOOVVEEE this picture! How sweet is this!?!?!

4. I would love to have a darkroom one day.
Photography is great, but there is nothing like developing your own pictures. I seriously love it! FOR SURE, when I win the lottery!

5. I know someone who thinks these words should be in their wedding vows, and I think it's awesome!!

Cupcake of the Week

I usually post my Cupcake of the Week with my Sunday Confessions post. But lately I've been in the mood to make cupcakes and a lazy Sunday afternoon seemed like the perfect time. I don't seem to bake as many cupcakes in the Winter as I do in the Spring/Summer, and since I said I'm bringing Spring to my blog, I've baked some pretty spring colored cupcakes!

So today, my Cupcake of the Week is one of my own!

Cupcake of the Week:
Spring Cupcakes

Mint green frosting, pink sugar crystal sprinkles

I'm loving mint green for this spring. I like the color combo of the pink/mint as well!

Sunday Confessions, Formspring Me, and Sock Monkey Cupcakes

~Sunday Confessions~

(I've been doing Sunday Confessions for a whole month already! These don't seem to be confessions this week, but more like random things that popped into my head. But, I'm sharing them nonetheless because otherwise, you wouldn't know these things about me, and this is what Sunday Confessions is all about!)

**If you would like to post your own Sunday Confessions (or whatever day of the week you choose), leave your link in the comment section. I would love to read everyone's confessions!**

1. I would love to be able to pull off this cute look!
I love her pink hair and pigtails! I've had pink streaks in my hair, and then later purple. I think I have an inner cutie ready to bust out. Maybe I should unleash her?!

2. I love Kawaii inspired things.
Let's face it, I'm a sucker for cute things, and these are super cute!

3. I love Granny Squares!
I learned how to make granny squares for Operation Granny Square on Amy's Blog. I loved making them so much, I've signed up for a Granny Square Swap!  I'm excited to see all the lovely Granny Squares I'll be getting! :) I also have some pretty colors in mind for a blanket I want to make. Granny squares of course!

4. I currently have "Blue Streak" nail polish on.
But, not for long. It's chipping and that annoys me so as soon as I'm done posting this blog, I'm taking it off and painting it "Sugar Daddy" pink hehe!

5. When I get headaches I'm a BIG baby.
I rarely get headaches, but when I do, watch out! I don't handle headaches very well (they make me grumpy) and on top of that I'm not a big fan of taking medicine every time some little thing hurts. I know people who pop all sorts of things, for all sorts of reasons, and unless you have a real medical reason for taking medication, I'm just not that into it.

Also...
 I have a Formspring!
I have decided to do a Q/A Sunday Confessions (probably next week), so feel free to ask me questions! I want to know what you want to know about me. I'm hoping that everyone that reads this blog, will take the extra minute to ask me a question. It can be anything! You can ask them anonymously if you want! :) Let's make this fun!

Sunday Confessions & Ice Cream Cupcakes

~Sunday Confessions~

1. I have a secret sketch book.
I've had it since 2001, when I took a drawing 101 class. Every now and then ,I break it out and do some    drawings. I don't show it to many people. Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to post some of my drawings on my blog.

2. I don't like spiders.
They really creep me out, enough said.

3. I love Johnny Depp
I love all the movies he is is. I think he is an awesome actor and I'm excited to see him in the new Alice in Wonderland!

 5. I am overly sensitive.
I am very sensitive to how people perceive me, I always want people to like me and will give them chance after chance and give them the benefit of the doubt, just so they will like me, even when they have betrayed me in some way. I have a lot of faith in people and so I get very emotional about things when they let me down. I let the little things get to me, and I always over think things. I hate being mean to people, even when people are mean to me. I never try to change who I am, I just want people to like me for me. I hope you all like me! :)

Sunday Confessions & Cupcake of the week

Sorry this Sunday Confessions post is late. But, I'm here now, and ready to confess!

~Sunday Confessions~

1. I like my milk ice cold. Not refrigerator temperature, and definitely NOT with ice cubes in it. About 30 minutes before I want to drink it, I place my glass of milk in the freezer. I like the milk ice crystals that form around the top of the milk.

 source

2. I really really hate wooden spoons! (Hence the name of my blog) I also don't like toothpicks, or pop sickle sticks or anything else wooden that is unfinished. It seriously hurts my teeth. I can't watch people eat pop sickles because I know their teeth are going to hit the wood (chill bumps). And I can't use toothpicks, or even watch people use them, even if they are on TV. Corn dogs are horrible, I have to get my husband to pull the stick out before I can eat it. Ok, that's enough, I can't talk about it anymore....yuck! I'm not even going to post a picture of this.

3. I love it when my husband cooks for me. It makes me feel special and taken care of. His food is always so yummy and all I have to do is mention that I want to try something and he'll make it for me. Friday night we had a Mexican night and he made me Chimichangas for the first time. It was better than any restaurant I've had them at. He cooks with love!

 Yummy Chimichangas and black beans...

...and margaritas of course snagged from my Project 365 Blog

4. My favorite color is purple. Any shade of purple will do, in fact, that's the color of my nails right now!

5. I always thought it would be fun to have a pet skunk. They are just so darn cute!! I grew up in the country, and we had a baby bunny and a baby squirrel once, and our neigbors had a baby deer that they found, but I always thought a skunk would be fun. Of course I would take out their stinker so I wouldn't get sprayed!

Awwww a cute little baby!

Probably has something to do with my love of the skunk in Bambi. "You can call me Flower if you want to." Ahhhhh I love it!

And now I leave you with...
