Paris - part 1

Bonjour! I'm back from a whirlwind weekend in Paris! If you missed how we came about this impromptu trip, read about that surprise here. It was a lovely long weekend. We saw so much I had to break down the pictures in parts. This is part 1. It isn't even half of what we saw the first day! We're hardcore travelers and go pretty much non stop when we're on vacations like this. We like to see as much as we can while we're there.

Here's what you'll see in this post: our train ride, sneak peek of the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, some French food, Luxor Obelisk  and other fun stuff.

It's about a 2 1/2 hour train ride from Kaiserslautern (a town about 30 minutes from us) to Paris. Our train left at 7:20 am, we had already been up for 2 hours. We got a cool car with a room, you know like in Harry Potter. I made some nerdy joke about dementors coming when someone walked down the hallway. You're probably only laughing if you're a Harry Potter nerd like me. It's ok.

Some church, I really don't know. But it's pretty.

Clock statue by the metro station Gare St Lazare near our hotel.

St. Mary Magdalene (Church) are in the next 3 pictures

Metro station entrance.

Ariana found the Eiffel Tower! We showed her what it looked like before the trip and she was so excited to see it, she was pointing it out to us!

Our first sneak peek of the tower.

Luxor Obelisk. The sun was blinding off the gold tip.

 Eiffel tower and the Obelisk!

We found a yummy cafe that we ate at last time we were in Paris.

Here's a little back-story for you in case you are "huh, they've been to Paris before?" Actually, we have. We were stationed in England from 2004-2007 (as newlyweds, before Ariana) and we did a lot of traveling Europe then. Paris is a lot more romantic when you don't have a toddler, but it was still totally worth it to go again, and she's a great traveler, so that was awesome! Last time we went, was for Valentine's Day and we ate dinner in the Eiffel Tower and went to see Moulin Rouge (looooved it!)

Anyways, I was so excited to have some real French Onion Soup!

Me with my soup and my cafe glace creme (iced coffee with milk) We messed with some of the camera setting so some of these photos are a little off. Sorry.

This statue was in a garden area right before the Lourve. I loved it!

Walking up to the Lourve museum!

Attempt at a self family portrait in front of the Lourve. We didn't actually go inside this trip. We went before and had another museum in mind for this trip. It's well worth the visit though, plus seeing the Mona Lisa is something to brag about (even if it is really small and super crowded all around it)

Relaxing by the fountains right outside the big pyramids. We had already walked a lot that day.

Across from the Lourve. Not sure what this is, but everything in Europe is so ornate!

So that's it for part 1. Part 2 will be more French food and Eiffel Tower pics and whatever else I can cram in there! I'm thinking I might have 3 parts, but not sure yet. Haven't made my way through them all. I have a lot of resizing and loading onto blogger to do.

Hope you enjoyed the first part and come back for the rest!!

  4. That's so fun to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to do all these little trips over there! I went to Paris once but I was not there nearly long enough and can't wait to go back. Ariana is looking just adorable as always!
