Scavenger Hunt Sunday (16)

This Scavenger Hunt Sunday the prompts were sent in by me! How fun to be part of this project! I'm excited to check out everyones interpretations for these!

1. Beneath Your Feet:

I decided to go with this broken glass littering a nature trail from a few days ago. You can see my reflection in it! (When I'm out exploring nature, nothing makes me angrier than finding trash some inconsiderate people left behind.)

2. Capturing Movement:

Trying to capture Ariana while swinging and leaving the background blurred. This was hard. She moved a lot! I did get the chain in focus and the background blurred, so it was a minor accomplishment.

3. Texture:

Some colorful textured rocks found while exploring  castle ruins.

4. Face Your Fears:

One word. Spiders!

5. Currently:

Currently, chasing butterflies! My most recent butterfly photo is of this Large Tortoiseshell Butterfly.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (15)

This week I thought I would jump back into Scavenger Hunt Sunday. All the photos for this week are from our recent trip to Holland last weekend. I'm still sorting through the THOUSAND photos I took so look for more vacation pictures later this week. Hopefully this sneak peak will bring you back for more!

Yellow:
This single yellow brick on the pathway winding through Keukenhof Flower Garden in Holland caught my eye.

Makes Me Smile:
Ok so this isn't the best photo but I captured the distress on Ariana's face when they brought out our seafood dinner with whole cooked fish, eyeballs and all. It made me laugh but she was a champ and tried everything!

Ancient or Antique:
I'm thinking this falls into the category of Ancient. It's the door on the old lighthouse in The Hague, Holland.

Splash:
Little fuzzy duckling enjoying a rainy fountain in the Keukenhof Flower Garden, Holland.

In The Sun:
I captured this sunset run on the shore of the North Sea. We stayed in The Hague a few nights and wandered down to enjoy the beach sunsets while we were there. I love the silhouettes of the dog and his person running in the sun.

Photo Challenge -- Day 2

Today is Day 2 of the photo challenge and the prompt today is "old". When taking my picture today I kept saying the little phrase "something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue" in my head. No idea why except maybe the fact that this ring is borrowed, old and blue - ish.

It's my mom's old turquoise ring. I'm kinda in love with it, but it's now my sisters and I borrowed it while I was home and accidentally ended up bringing it back with me. I have to ship it back soon.

The link from yesterday is still open so you have time to catch up! Add your link for "old" below.
(Tomorrow the prompt is body parts. This should be an interesting one! Keep it clean haha!)

Photo Challenge -- Day 1

Good morning and welcome to September and the first day of our photo challenge.  YAY!

The prompt for today is "new".  I recently bought this new box of crayons for me and Ariana. We love to color. What new item are you sharing today?

Remember this challenge is about finding new things to photograph. I'm not expecting spectacular photos each day. Just have fun with it!

Photo Challenge

Are you ready?
It's almost September and the 30 Day Photography Challenge is ready!

Here are some tips and rules for the challenge.

What is it?
30 days, 30 prompts - 1 prompt for each day.You interpret the prompt and take and post a picture each day. Pretty simple. Whether you need to have motivation to get that camera out each day, or just want to get out of a rut, hopefully these prompts throughout the month of September will be just what you need!

Who can participate?
Anybody! Whether you use your point and shoot, DLSR, or iphone, this list is suppose to be a jumping off point for creativity. It would be great if you could complete the 30 days. After all, that's why it's called a challenge. But, don't worry if life happens and you miss some. Just try your best!

Where and when do we post pictures?
I will post my picture for the prompt for that day in the morning (hopefully by 6am EST) and there you will find a linky. You can post your pictures daily on your blog like I am, on flickr, or any other photo site you may use.

What are the rules?
Oh let's keep it simple. There is only one real rule.
RULE: If you post a picture, please take some time and post some comments on others.
We all love comments and it's nice for everyone who participates to click on other photos around them and show some love. I won't be monitoring this so let's stay honest.

Here is the list of prompts. I decided to go ahead and post them so you can save them to your computer, post them on your blog, or print them out and put them on the fridge.

Also you can snag a button if you want.

I can't wait, I hope you're as excited as I am!

P64: Goldenrod

Goldenrod was a strange shade of yellow. I felt stumped to get the color right. Finally looking out into my backyard I saw a goldenrod yellow leaf on our rhubarb plant. I highly doubt this is a healthy leaf, but I'm grateful for it this week! Plus, the red veins running through it make for an interesting design.

P64: Asparagus

Well I just have to say that Asparagus was a difficult color to match. Everything I seemed to come up with was too "green" or "olive". This was my first really frustrating week. In the end, I settled on this photo. It's a field of tall crops near a walking path right outside the next village. I think the stalks match asparagus better than the tops, but they are very interesting to look at too.

I linked up here with the other P64 photos:

This week, the hunt is on for Yellow Orange and I'll be hunting it in ITALY!! I know, I know, first Paris, now this, you can hate me later! In case you missed it, sign up to be a pen pal of mine by checking out this blog! If I get your address in time, you may be getting a postcard soon!

Even though I'll be on vacation I've still got some fun posts planned and of course when I get back more travel pictures! YAY!!

P64: Tumbleweed

Not my favorite color but luckily for me it was easy enough to find when we took a stroll in a nearby village.

Gotta love that crazy hair!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (9)

Sorry this is a day late but I just couldn't pull it together yesterday.

SOOC (Straight Out Of Camera)
I was playing around with more rimmed with light and spiderwebs I found the other day.

Sprouting
The gray branches that I took for P64: Gray (left) has now sprouted little green leaves and white flowers (right)

Isn't it Ironic?
How kids have all kinds of gadgets and toys and still sometimes nothing is more fun than playing with rocks outside!

Lazy
Cats have it made. Such a life. Nobody expects anything from them, they can just lay around and be lazy all day.

Smells like Spring
 Cheeseburgers on the grill! Yum!!!

 I'm linking up with SHS:

Hope all you Moms had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday!! I know I did and I'm getting special treatment today since my husband had to work yesterday!! Yay for strawberry cheesecake pancakes that are being whipped up as I type!

P64: Red Violet

Red Violet = Play Dough

Ariana and I broke out some playdough stamps and shapers this past week. I found this particular can of playdough matched perfectly to the red violet when colored on paper.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (8)

Another Sunday Scavenger Hunt. Not sure how I feel about this week's photos, but here they are anyways.

Architecture:
Sorry, this one is from the archives from our trip to Prague a few months ago. I just didn't get any good architecture photos this week.

Rimmed with Light:
Not sure if this is exactly what rimmed with light is. But I don't have any pets and this was at sunset. The light was rimming the edges of the spider web and the side of the clothespin. I have more "rimmed with light" photos I discovered in my archives and from this week I may share later on in a separate post.
Linking up here:

Toes or Feet:
Well this wasn't my favorite but I don't think feet are pretty, except for baby feet. I could NOT get the shot I had in my head to work out and then I ran out of time so this is what you get.
First flip flops of the season on my feet!

This is my Favorite:
This is my favorite coffee cup. It's hand painted and I bought it when we were living in England. It's so cheerful and bright and I love the way the lip curls just a tad at the top and the way the handle fits just perfectly. First time attempting to capture steam by the way.

Shades:
This photo was an accident. Ariana was playing outside and took her sunglasses off. Without thinking I snapped this photo.

I'm linking these SHS photos up with Ashley here:

P64: Pacific Blue

Pacific Blue jumped out at me while Ariana was dying her eggs the other day. A hugemonous thank you to Grammy (my mom) for the big Easter box with the egg cups and lots of other awesome goodies!

Happy Easter lovelies!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (7)

It's been a few weeks since I took part in a hunt but I needed a break. Some prompts just don't find the inspiration they need to get a good photo. I never want to stress myself out over something that's fun so I took a few weeks off. I'm back and I think I've got some good ones for you! I can't wait to see yours either!

This week's prompts are....

1. Reflections
Looking through a glass marble. I love how you can see the clouds in the sky! Trees, grass, and the rock it's on. Very fun playing around with this!

2. Guess What This Is?
Do you think you can guess it right?? I'll tell you what it is at the end of this post!! Hmmm :)

3. What's Inside
What's inside? I'll tell you what's inside. POLLEN! It's inside the flower, inside my nose, inside my house! Bleh. One thing about Spring in Germany, no AC=no filter for the air! Just open your windows and let some pollen in!

4. Playtime
Richard watching Ariana as she plays on the playground.

5. Lawn and Garden
I think my husband is right, the dandylions must duck when the lawnmower comes! Our lawn is covered in them!

To see more interpreations of this week's prompts, click the link below!

Oh and my Guess What This Is photo.....melting vanilla/chocolate swirl ice cream!
Did you guess right??

Rainbow Spring Flowers

April showers bring a rainbow of flowers!

A few weeks ago Jaymi posted about a rainbow of flowers. When we went to Gartenshau Kaiserslautern yesterday, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to share my rainbow of flowers I captured!

Last time we went there I posted about the beautiful Autumn leaves and pumpkin animals! Looking back, how did I survive before my D7000?!?!

Most of these shots are completely SOOC (straight out of the camera). Only a few have some slight cropping and that's it! (Of course I added my watermark to them, just in case.) It was a gorgeous day full of gorgeous Spring flowers!

Doesn't this rainbow of flowers just scream April!!

It's perfect for You Capture/Spring this week.

P.S. For those of you that weighed in on my zoom lens dilemma,  I'm patiently awaiting my zoom lens to arrive. After careful consideration and much searching and reading reviews I decided on the Nikon 70-300mm. My next lens....I want a macro, and I already have one picked out!!! :)
