Homemade Ravioli

One of my May Goals was to make homemade pasta. A few days after making that goal on my blog, I jumped right into it and made these yummy raviolis from scratch. (Sorry for the bad lighting)

I found this recipe on pinterest and decided that I didn't care that pumpkin was a fall food, this was the recipe I wanted to try.

I discovered that making the pasta dough itself was surprising simple! I loved doning my apron, covering the kitchen table in flour and kneading away. I felt like a true 50's housewife right then, being all domestic and stuff. The husband thought my determination was cute.

As easy as the pasta dough was to make, actually stuffing the ravioli, boiling them, and then sautéing them to much longer than I expected.

In the end they turned out good and were a yummy dinner for the 2 of us (Ariana was fed and put to bed before I got it all finished) My results weren't as pretty as the ones in the picture. But, really when is it ever!? And they were a little drier than I expected but none the less, delicious.

Now I want a pasta wheel to make it easier! For these I used a round biscuit cutter and folded them over to make the half moons. It took a lot of time and I kept overfilling them and squishing 1/2 of the filling out when closing them. I think the pasta wheel would be faster.

It was really fun though! I think everyone should make their own pasta at least once!

May Goals

I haven't posted any monthly goals lately. This month I'm feeling ambitious. Or maybe it's all the sunshine we've finally been getting. Either way, bring on May!

MAY GOALS
1. Have our friends over more often for dinner/lunch/playdates.
2. Show Rich how much I appreciate him. (It's the little things)
3. Drink more water.
4. Clean out my craft stuff, donate some, re-organize everything.
5. Make homemade pasta.
6. Get my camera manual out and learn something new.
7. Print/frame some new photos.
8. Go on a picnic.

What are your goals for this month?

P.S. This photo was taken in Luxembourg, if I've shared it already, I'm sorry. I just loved the way this pretty flower was growing out of this fungi stone wall. Also, Ariana is home sick with a fever. Of course it was a day we had a play-date scheduled, but we're pushing it back to next week.

Pancake Sunday & Monthly Goals

Pancake Sunday, it's a weekly tradition in our household.
This past month we had some awesome pancakes!
From top left clockwise: apple bacon pancakes, mixed berry pancakes, M&M's pancakes, and chocolate banana pancakes. My favorite was either the M&M pancakes or the apple bacon pancakes! YUM!!

Since we are taking a look back on April...
Let's see how I did on my April goals shall we?

1. Work on my scrapbooks. I seriously can't believe I didn't even touch my scrapbooks this month.
2. Read 2 books. I read "Horns" by Joe Hill and "The Snow Falcon" by Stuart Harrison this month.
3. Make Ariana a bunny. I made one but I'm not happy with the way she turned out. Ehh..
4. Blog a new tutorial and recipeShared my tutorials for cheesecake cupcakes and moss initial as well as a yummy recipe for Thai chicken soup.
5. Plant a garden with Ariana. Really enjoyed picking flowers to plant. You can see some of them and the garden patio bench makeover in this post.

I can't believe it's May 2nd already!!!

MAY GOALS!!!
1. Work on my scrapbooks. Seriously this time!!
2. Work out 6 days a week.
Swimsuit season is just around the corner and I need some toning up.
I have no excuse, in fact I just bought some 4lb dumbbells yesterday!
3. Share 2 new recipes on the blog.
Kinda counterproductive of working out, but I still believe in good food!
4. Read 2 new books. I'm on a reading kick and I love it!
5. Live everyday like he deploys tomorrow. :)

Plus near the end of the month, we'll be taking a vacation to Italy!!
Pisa and Florence and I can't wait!

Here's hoping I can actually stick to all my goals this month!
What are some of your goals for this month or last month??
